Connecting the dots…
In 2005, I responded to a three week old ad Karen posted online titled ‘baker’s assistant.’ When I called, she said the position had been filled, but I was persistent. She asked if I could bake, I answered, 'Yes, I'll bake you a cake.' The truth was, cooking or baking was rare. In fact, I was notorious for leaving out the main ingredient in any dish. My first day at the bakery, I could not get the whisk onto the mixer, when I did, the mixing bowl was not locked into place & it nearly shook off the counter. Karen laughed & nudged me with her elbow. It was at that moment she knew she would be the one to teach me how to bake & decorate, & she did. I love my K-Rock.

In the beginning...
Karen became interested in baking from her Grandmamma Jones, which is why we use the same old-fashioned recipes today. Karen was self-taught, & initially gained popularity with her cakes from their yummy taste & her artistic ability to draw anything. Her cakes were like magic- she could bring anything to life. After experimenting, she soon mastered three-dimensional cakes & wedding cakes. It did not take long before she was affectionately known as ‘The Cake Lady.'
Giving back to the community...
I enjoy donating my yummy cakes to organizations in middle Georgia.
The Ronald McDonald House, The Methodist Children's Home, The Heart Association, Museum of Arts & Sciences: Festival of Trees, Habitat for Humanity, Rooms for the Heart, & Toys for Tots.
